Case Study: Training Needs Assessment – Case Study

Training Needs Assessment

A major global wholesale and investment bank with operations in 45 countries.

  • Conducted a training needs assessment (TNA) which included:
    • An online, multi-choice KYC Knowledge Test
    • An online survey
    • Interviews with surveyed personnel both in the off-shore hubs and on-shore spokes.
  • Provided detailed report highlighting strengths, weakness and training requirements per individual and team.
  • Conducted targeted remedial training within the off-shore centres.

The Client

A major global wholesale and investment bank with operations in 45 countries. The bank had a hub-and-spoke core Client On-Boarding (COB) and Know Your Customer (KYC) operation with two major off-shore centres (c.750 people) and hubs in the US, Europe and APAC (c.30 people).

The Challenge

The COB/KYC function was suffering from low productivity and had a reputation within the businesses it served for variable quality and a lack of responsiveness. Senior management wished to assess the knowledge and skills of the KYC teams and conduct remedial training as part of a wider reengineering exercise.

The Solution

  • Lysis conducted a training needs assessment (TNA) which included:
    • An on-line, multi-choice KYC Knowledge Test across the whole team
    • An on-line survey covering 10% of the team.
    • Interviews with surveyed personnel both in the off-shore hubs and on-shore spokes.
  • The output was a detailed report highlighting strengths, weakness and training requirements per individual and team.
  • Lysis then conducted targeted remedial training within the off-shore centres.

The Outcome

The process highlighted key areas of remedial development for the teams and provided a structured two-year training programme for implementation across the global team.
